Staying Frilly in Philly

I had the opportunity to travel to Philadelphia for business. After the business was done I did a whirlwind tour around town.

I decided to go to city tavern which was a place that our founding fathers ate and drank at. It only seemed fitting to wear something lolita. City tavern has authentic colonial food and is lit with candles.

I choose to wear a fall coordinate to dinner.

After that I wandered around the old cobblestone roads.

When I go to historical places it makes me ponder about the people that walked there 200 years ago.

❤️❤️The menu at the city tavern ❤️❤️

My historical pork steak loin with apple. It was cooked in the traditional way. It was delightful. The only thing better that the atmosphere and the main course was the delicious dessert ๐Ÿฎ

The next day was very busy but before I left I went to see the liberty bell. It had closed before I was able to get there. Although you can see it on the outside.

Bbelow is a picture of the original coordinate but temperature reached around 80 F. So I had to ditch the beret,

All in all Philadelphia is a great city to visit. It was very friendly and I got compliments on my coordinate from strangers. I hope I can go back soon and run the rocky stairs and see the love sculpture ❤️

Stay frilly!

Packing, Traveling and Lolita on a Plane!

If you read my blog then one thing is apparent I travel a lot. Many times I’m traveling for work which means that Lolita isn’t why I’m going to my destination and my time will be limited to have fun. This can make it difficult because I need to pack Lolita concisely because I have to pack things for my meeting and work.

1) Luggage

Make sure you own good luggage. These don’t have to be a super expensive luggage set. I recommend getting one enormous bag that you can check and do yourself a favor and get one with four wheels. In addition to this enormous bag purchase a nice carry on.

My carry on is just a small spinner bag.

You are also allowed one personal item on the plane I usually use a Lolita backpack(you can see a navy Angelic pretty back pack). This allows me to put my electronics money and this way I don’t have to pack a purse in my luggage.

I’d love to get some really cute luggage that’s durable but I’m so picky so I haven’t found the perfect luggage. I just have some plain black bag and a black and white carry on. So I would like to find something that’s cuter.

2) Plan your coordinates before you leave.

This for me is difficult because I want to have options and I want to have all the accessories that go with the dress. Planning my coordinates and editing myself on the absolute essentials for the coordinates makes it not only cut time once I’m at a destination to get ready but also makes certain I don’t check two bags and have a carry on. You laugh but I did use to travel for fun and bring like three bags of stuff. I now can get away with one carry on if it’s a short trip and planning your coordinate is essential to this process.

If it’s a business trip I don’t pack an over the top unless there’s an event that calls for it.

3) What dresses are the easiest to Pack and least amount of hassle?

Chiffon and polyester fabric dresses are the easiest to pack because they take the least amount of room and don’t wrinkle as easily so you won’t have to iron it once you arrive at your hotel. But what if it’s cold and a cotton, wool or velveteen is what’s appropriate then you can just the roll fold method or you can pack a polyester jumper skirt and pack a sweater instead of  a blouse and then layer a cardigan over the jumper skirt(jsk).

4) Use smaller bags to put each coordinate in. This makes it super easy to grab the bag and get ready once at your destination

5) Vaacum bag that petticoat unless you would like to wear it on the plane or put in a small manageable bag.

6) Select coordinates that are within the same color Family or style so that you can limit the amount of shoes, purses and makeup palettes that you will need.

7) Before you leave home about 2-3 days before make a map from the airport to your destination. Make a list of things you’re interested in seeing, the times that those places close and weather reports for the destination city.

8) Pack a face mask and maybe a bath bomb. My skin gets so dry on the plane and when I arrive sometimes I feel gross, my feet are swollen and I’m just generally exhausted. I combat this with packing some bath bombs and face masks and my favorite skin care regiments.

9) Wear comfortable shoes!! Nothing is worse than you’re feet hurting and you missing out on exploring the destination city or meeting up with some friends.

10)Wearing lolita on the plane
If you want to wear Lolita on the plane then dress casually. This means no giant wig. Also keep in mind that shoes have to be removed at TSA. Also TSA may require you to remove anything metal you have on. So limiting the amount of accessories is best.

Don’t wear a tight items as it can cause you swell and be uncomfortable. Planes are always hot or cold there’s hardly ever an in between this is important when selecting a garment to wear.

Containing your dress to your seat so that you considerate is a must so simple dresses are the best.

Take lots of photos about your journey!

Have fun on your flights and adventures!!

Lulu ❤️

Ita bags and kawaii pins from brands to indie

Last fall and winter I discovered itabags. Ita bags if you are not familiar with them are bags that have a clear front where you can display pins or even small items that match different outfits that are an ode to your favorite anime, style or brand. While I do have several animes that I love I did not go that route when putting together my bag.

At first I didn't put pins in my itabag.

But as you can see it's not the most aesthetically pleasing arrangement. Since then I've rearranged mine many times it's currently decked out in various Lolita brand and indie label pins.

The Morton Salt girl is probably one of my favorites because it makes me laugh every time I see it. I got a space kitty pin from Artist Alley at dragoncon which isn't pictured.

Lately I've been on the look out for unique pins for my bag. I stumbled upon a couple shops such as Agato and Daily Gems that are Lolita centric.

I just snagged these adorable Halloween pins that remind me of Halloween in the 90s.

I also snapped up some of Daily Gems more all year round type pins such as the itabag pin and instax pin.

Happy itabag arranging and please share pictures of your itabags with me๐Ÿ’•

๐ŸŽƒPumpkin, Apples and Bears ๐Ÿป

Lately I've been in a fantastic mood because fall is coming. My local tea house that blends all their own teas was debuting their new caramel apple pie and pumpkin moonshine tea. Their teas can served hot or iced which really makes it nice to change it up for those summer months when the south is an oven of humidity.

I tried to find something fun and suitable for the occasion.

I had still not worn my bear beret from last year so I decided to wear it tonight. The ears are so large lol ๐Ÿ˜‚.

I sampled both seasonal teas which are described below:

The Pumpkin ๐ŸŽƒ moonshine is described as “Our farm to cup process reinvents southern tea. Taste the difference of hand processed local fruits and herbs in our teas.”A rich pumpkin spice chai laced with real Alabama pumpkin bits & spiked with cloves, ginger, & traditional chai spices. If this sounds like something that you would enjoy you can purchase it Here! The pumpkin tasted to me like if tea were pumpkin pie when cold with the sugar in it. Although I liked it just as well hot without sugar and it was less pie tasting and more a chai tea flavor.

The caramel apple pie tea is described as A delicious autumn treat. Crisp apples, cinnamon, ginger, star anise, ginseng, and spices melt together in rich, creamy caramel and vanilla. Ingredients: Ceylon tea, Apples, Caramel, Oranges, Star Anise, Ginger, Cloves, Ginseng, Vanilla. It can be found Here. The apple pie is your perfect sweet apple flavored tea. If you like apples this tea is for you. It marries that perfect sweet apples and pie taste.

I ended up getting loose leaf for hot brewing but had additionally purchased pre-brewed cold versions for my fridge. They have reusable jars and gallons so that it leaves less of an environmental footprint. If you forget your jar or gallon glass jugs they give you a cup that said this is the cup of shame which is smaller and way more expensive.

The tea shop is very cute and offers a cute vintage atmosphere. My hubby and I love going and just chilling in the space while we sip our hot tea in the winter and the cold tea in the summers.

Video of one Piper&leaf location

I really enjoy the teas offered from Piper and Leaf. I enjoy buying farm to table blends that are local as I feel that this is an unusual and lucky amenity that we have in my area.

I hope all you lovelies out there find autumn teas that you also love or you can order some of these and tell me what you think.

Happy steeping,

5 steps to Wearing Lolita to work

As a professional and as someone that wears Lolita fashion I really likes to be able to wear Lolita to work while maintaining lolita fashion and also look professional. I must admit I've been wanting to make this post for quite a long time but didn't know exactly how to break it into small steps in any sort of followable way.

1) Wear natural hair or a natural colored wig. Also minimal head gear.

You can wear a cute updo such as a bun or milk maid braids

Or curl/straighten your hair and fix in a professional but cute style

Finally make sure to select a small plain pearl or cute headband, clips or small head dress.

2) Select a dress that is an all over print or one with no print at all.

While the coordinate below uses cinema Doll I have toned it down enough that it looks like a fun holiday outfit for a holiday dinner last winter.

The innocent world OP below is a solid color and is made of cutsew material making it a fun work outfit.

3) One can coordinate with a blazer or lolita blazer to give suit look

I chose this sweater that looks like a Chanel blazer for the coordinate below.

The dress below already looks somewhat professional because of the military button on the bodice.

4) select stylish shoes but that are also Lolita aesthetic

I have found a lot these types at kate spade, modcloth and etc.

5) Last and most important rule!!! You must have a job with a fairly loose dress code. That allows business casual or offbeat business wear.

My job allows me to wear offbeat business and business casual clothes because I'm in a research field and while I need to maintain modesty they don't care if I dress differently.

Happy working in Lolita!!

Halloween Treats

While it's only September I'm so pumped about fall and a anticipated release of APs Halloween Treats print. Most people went for the black and lavender colorways but the more that pictures got posted the more convinced I wanted the ivory. It reminds me of Halloween prints got together with a chocolate print.

Well today I received it ❤️❤️๐ŸŽƒ๐ŸŽƒ๐ŸŽƒ❤️❤️

It's so awesome I love it. The material is chiffon and has glitter on it where the stars are.

I was most worried about the sax or mint on the dress from stock photos but when I received it in true ap fashion it looks great.

This coffin cake looks good enough to eat

The beret and headbow are to die for. I felt like I was being too indulgent but yolo.

All the tiny details make it one of the best dresses of the season.

Happy early fall!

The American eclipse

As a scientist I knew I had to experience the eclipse. While I had a work engagement that I couldn't get rid of and couldn't travel to full totality but I did want to go and see it. I decide to go the Space and Rocket center to catch the show.

Of course I dresses in Lolita but also dressed for hot it was close to 95 pre-eclipse and unfortunately I had a derp face in all of the pictures.

The museum had a rock in roll exhibit

As the eclipse happened

It was pretty cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž an owl woke up and best part it stopped being as hot.

Couple shots of the saturn V and some models inside. Overall I had a blast but I wished I could have taken off work for the eclipse.

Dragoncon 2017

Dragoncon is a convention that happens in Atlanta,ga that rivals other large conventions such as comic con in California. My husband and I attend every year. This year a lot of my favorite movie and television leads were guest so it was setup to be an amazing event.

A majority of my friends also attend making it a super memorable.

I have an autoimmune disease called lupus so I have to be extremely careful. So I chose a comfortable sweet Lolita with no wigs. Last year dragoncon ended prematurely with me being hauled away in an ambulance to the hospital for a week stay.

I went through my closet and find things that matched my Jeremy Scott x adidas shoes because of walking around a great deal comfort was the upmost importance in addition to keep my autoimmune illness from flaring up.

Day 1 I chose Misty Sky from Angelic pretty and the newly released SuyaSuya toys eyemask headdress in navy.

Above is rhinestone tights that always look dreamy to me and paired with my adidas bear shoes.

I was all set for my first panel Nathan Fillon

I left the room at 6am so I could secure my spot in line and got a great seat.

The hubby wasn't as thrilled as I was for the Fillon panel.

The rest of the day I walked around a bit and went to the dealers room. I got some really cute pins for my ita bag.

While waiting for a panel I can't remember which one but I saw one of the best Bob's burger costumes.

I love Bobs Burgers so much so this was a real treat to see someone go to great detail.

Sitting in line for another panel.

The next day I decide to continue with my theme of sleepy Lolita.

And another legend to line up for was John Cusack.

I'm a huge John Cusack fan I really wanted to have boombox to hold up that would play 'In Your Eyes'

In the panel he expressed how much he was enjoying Dragoncon. I didn't realize how much I would love his panel. His panel made me an even larger fan I didn't think that was possible as he is one of my favorite actors and I have pretty much seen every movie he was in. Like a big nerd I bought a photo with him the next day but my husband also bought a photo with him. Luckily they let us exchange one of those paid photos for the legend

I'm so happy ๐Ÿ˜ that my eyes are almost closed! He was nice.

So if that was the best day ever I got to hang out with some friends that night and eat at Hardrock cafe. I was pretty tired and I just went back to the room and went to sleep.

Day 3: I tried a little something new because Alton Brown has a panel so I wanted something that was foodie. What better outfit than French Cafe. I continued bear shoes. Unfortunately these shoes are offbrand and had been touted as real online but upon receiving were discovered to be offbrand. I cant emphasize enough how important it is to get from reputable businesses or directly from the brand so you won't get scammed as I did.

I did a cute updo all weekend because it was cool and extremely comfortable.

I started my day meeting up with Kris and we decided to go to a couple of panels including my favorite Dr. Who companion.

In her iconic jean jacket ❤️❤️

I was totally freaking out it was amazing and it was cool to see it with a friend.

We then went to have a photo with John Cusack. He's so tall!!

After the photo I went to the Alton Brown panel and surprise the one of the voice actors for archer was also there (Lucky Yates).

It was a fantastic panel I could say for hours they were hilarious.

The hubby and I loved this one! Alton Brown is coming back with the return of the eats!!

Afterwards I chilled around the hotel and watched costumes the one below is Luminar from Beauty and the beast.

Speaking of Beasts

After that I wished to be BIG!! He was really doing fortunes.

Last day of Dragoncon

I wore Fancy Paper Doll with my Sleepy accessories. I mostly went to the dealers, ate with some dear friends from NYC and Alabama.

I went the art show on the remediation from my friend and roommate. She always knows neat things about conventions.

I picked some cool art for my house ๐Ÿก

I had an absolutely fantastic time this year thanks so all my roommates, friends and some pretty fantastic guests.
